IGNITION

With latest single Ignition, Big Foot make the hills of England tremble with the angsty grunge of early 90s Seattle. This stark departure from their dreamier side sees the band indulge their love of menacing distortion, with the song built around one of the band’s earliest and most well-loved live riffs. Sultry bass lines barely keep the song from tearing itself apart, before a high-speed collision of explosive guitars breaks loose, leaving the listener bruised and dazed. Fittingly, the band will mark the release of the song with a gig at Manchester Academy 3.

Story behind song:

I suppose the story behind it is its a riff I wrote when I was 17, and it's always been a track our mates have loved to hear live. It feels like we've come full circle to finally release it really. First song we had a mosh pit to and always our set closer from back in the day, so it's a hell of a lot of fun with lots of lovely memories attached of gigs in rural pub backrooms when we were still at school.

I think the weird part is just to think we've actually been in this band together for 5 years, and I'm only now starting to realise just how much we've all changed in that time. Plus with there being that 2 year gap in the middle (we literally didn't play a gig between Sept 2019 and July 2021), the group of sixth form boys who used to play pubs in Bath seems quite distant. So this single is sort of a full stop to tie up the end of that era, and almost a thank you to that time in our lives. Our sound will change even more dramatically after this single, so it's sorta a goodbye and a hello at the same time.
